Chinese Company Spends $97m on Headquarters Shaped Like Star Trek's Starship Enterprise
If you're feeling uninspired by your employer's work environment, it may be time to up sticks and apply for a job with NetDragon Websoft, because the Chinese video game developer has completed work on a project to transform their headquarters into a replica of Star Trek's Starship Enterprise. NetDragon's founder and apparent Star Trek fanatic, Liu Dejian, was the mastermind for the project, which depending on the source cost anything between $97m and $160m.

This is no cheap knock off, though. Liu Dejian actually licensed the rights to build the structure from CBS, who according to a NetDragon official, actually thought the initial request was a giant ruse.

"That was their first time dealing with issue like this and at first they thought that it was a joke," the official told WSJ."They realized somebody in China actually did want to work out a building modeled on the USS Enterprise only after we sent the relevant legal documents."

From the ground, the building shows no sign of its spectacularly geeky heritage, but as is evidenced by a quick search on Google Maps, a bird's eye view reveals the building's true nature.

The building's interior reportedly matches its incredible exterior, with a replica T-Rex, giant slides for getting from floor to floor and a series of futuristic sliding doors, which sound not too dissimilar from those seen on the building's TV muse. So, next time you look up from your desk to look across the uninspiring field of beige that is your office, it might pay to remember that out there in China, a video game dev is using a giant slide to carry papers down to his boss on the 3rd floor of a building that is modelled on one of sci-fi's most iconic structures. Sigh....
