Chris Pine to Star Alongside Gal Godot in Wonder Woman
Chris Pine is about to make a move from classic sci-fi to classic superheroes, as the Star Trek star has just entered negotiations to play Steve Trevor, the "damsel in distress" in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie.

In the comics, World War II pilot Steve Trevor meets Diana when his plane crashes and she saves his life, establishing a dynamic in which he often finds himself in peril and Wonder Woman saves him. There are no plot details for the Warner Bros. film yet, but hopefully this gender role reversal will remain in the final script.

There were previous rumors that Scott Eastwood had landed the role and would appear as the character in Suicide Squad, but Variety's insiders report that in actuality, he was given the choice to either take a guaranteed supporting role in Suicide Squad or test for Trevor, and he chose the former. Apparently, his role in Suicide Squad is completely unrelated to Steve Trevor and remains a mystery.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Godot as the titular superhero, and will be directed by Monster's Patty Jenkins, following the controversial departure of Michelle MacLaren. The film will be released in theaters on June 23, 2017.
