Will Wolverine Return to the 'All-New, All-Different' Marvel Universe as a Woman?
Yesterday, Marvel announced the upcoming "relaunch" of their comics universe, in which they will be releasing 55-60 new series and changing all the characters' canons after the events of Secret Wars. Some of the heroes will have entirely new identities, including a new Spider-Man, new Hulk, and a new Wolverine. The latter is the most significant revelation of all, as the character is currently dead in the comics universe, and Marvel's creative editor Axel Alonso promised a Wolverine that "is certain to provoke reactions." From this promotional photo for the "All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe," it seems that Wolverine may return as a woman, Thor-style:

Will Wolverine Return to the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe as a Woman?

In the above photo, two of the new characters have Wolverine's distinctive claws: a grizzled man who is likely Old Man Logan, and an unknown woman right beside him. It looks like there will not only be two Wolverines, but one of them will be gender-swapped. Alonso was certainly right that it will provoke reactions, although hopefully Jane Foster has paved the way so the sexist vocal minority doesn't react quite as badly as they did for the female Thor.

This would make sense, as Marvel reassured fans in yesterday's announcement that they would take this opportunity to both retain and add diverse characters to the Marvel universe. They have confirmed they will be keeping Jane Foster as Thor and Sam Wilson as Captain America, and hopefully the wildly popular and acclaimed Kamala Khan will remain as Ms. Marvel. As for the possibility of a female Wolverine? The more the merrier!
