CBS's Supergirl Announces Official Premiere Date
Many of you have probably already seen the leaked Supergirl pilot, but for those of you who haven't, the premiere date is officially set for October 26 at 8pm on CBS.

We had mixed feelings about the first Supergirl trailer; Melissa Benoist seems to acquit herself well as Kara Danvers, and the tone seemed sufficiently lighthearted and self-aware, but it also left a bad postfeminist taste in our mouths (not helped by the presence of Ally McBeal, the poster child for postfeminism). And we weren't the only ones who felt that way, considering all the comparisons to that SNL Black Widow sketch.

But our hopes are still relatively high, as those scenes could easily be taken out of context, and the early buzz from the leaked pilot has been positive so far. For this latter reason, and because it's a lighter and riskier venture than other superhero shows, it's been courting comparisons to The Flash, which is arguably the best superhero show on television right now.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman. It has received a series commitment, and will air on CBS in the Monday 8pm slot, competing with fellow DC Comics adaptation Gotham.
