Watch: Alien and Prometheus Spliced Together to Make a 2 1/2 Hour Black-and-White Movie
If you're a fan of Alien, you might have had mixed feelings about Prometheus, the spin-off/prequel-ish thing which most critics and fans agree couldn't live up to the original or James Cameron's follow-up. But video editor Job Willins may have fixed some of what was broken about Prometheus, as he has swapped 30 minutes of footage with an hour of Alien footage to make a two-and-a-half hour black-and-white Xenomorph film called Derelict:

As a huge Alien fan, Prometheus had its moments, but it often felt like scenes were missing, as the emotional beats didn't connect and the pacing was completely off. By the end, you felt as though you had just watched a two-hour trailer for a really great Alien prequel miniseries. But the film was at its best when those "strands of Alien DNA" Ridley Scott kept talking about shone through (especially in that squirm-inducing C-section scene), and that's exactly what this video attempts to highlight:

"'Prometheus' wasn't exactly an Alien prequel, but this treats it as such by intercutting the events of Alien with Prometheus in a dual narrative structure," Willins wrote on Vimeo. "The goal was to assemble the material to emphasize the strengths of Prometheus as well as its ties to Alien. 'Derelict' is also in black & white to better marry the visual quality of the two originals (and also because both films look great in black & white)."

Willins also made the ultimate fan videos for Losties, as he performed the remarkable feat of condensing the first two seasons of Lost into two feature-length films, Lost: The Crash and Lost: The Swan. The trailers are below, and the full movies can be found at fanedit.info.
