First Trailer for Season 2 of HBO's The Leftovers Confirms Small Town Texas Setting
Season 2 of HBO's The Leftovers is going cross-country, moving from its season 1 setting of Upstate New York in favor of the small town of Jarden, Texas. The move was confirmed in the first trailer for the show's second season, which was released today showing an eerie back-up of cars on a quiet rural road. After zooming out to show the extent of the grid-lock, the video then focuses in on a road sign, which displays Jarden's population, and it's notable lack of departures.

With the change of location, Season 2 of The Leftovers will also have a vastly different cast to its predecessor. Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) and Carrie Coon (Gone Girl) will return, as will Season 1's big stars, Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman. It is yet to be confirmed whether or not Liv Tyler will return. Away from the show's core, just about every one of Season 1's fringe cast will be replaced with new, supposedly Texan, cast members.

Here's the official synopsis for the show:

More than three years ago, 2% of the world's population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero.

Season 2 of The Leftovers will premiere on HBO, October 4th 2015.
