Comic Con to Debut Streaming Service Next Year
Back in April, Comic Con International announced its intention to create a subscription streaming service that would bring Comic Con to fans year-round. Now, they've finally found someone to lead the effort, Nerdist's Seth Laderman, and are aiming for a launch date in the first quarter of 2016.

The channel is a joint effort between Comic Con and Lionsgate, and according to the press release, it will include "original short-form content created exclusively for the channel's subscribers, films and television series from Lionsgate and other studios designed to appeal to the diverse interests of Comic-Con's fans as well as exclusive archived footage from Comic-Con's 45-year history."

Laderman will helm the effort, as he has just been named executive vice president and general manager of the streaming service, and will be responsible for lining up programming. He is best known for being head of production at Nerdist, and for expanding Chris Hardwicke's podcast into a global phenomenon. He is also a self-proclaimed nerd, and the language of the press release is eager to vaunt his nerd cred:

"This is a world I know and love, a community I appreciate and respect." said Laderman. "It's an incredible opportunity to engage this awesome fan base and launch a service that will expand the world of Comic-Con by bringing exciting new content to its fans."

"I worked with Seth at Nerdist, and he speaks our language," said Lionsgate President of Interactive Ventures & Games Peter Levin. "His understanding of the fan experience and his track record of launching great new digital shows make him the perfect choice to lead the expansion of the pop culture event of the year into a year-round online experience for future generation fans, geeks, nerds like us and newbies alike."

There's still no official launch date or news about exact costs, but fans can be up on their Comic Con streaming news by checking the official website.
