Everything We Know About Marvel's All-New All-Different Avengers Line-Up
As Marvel's Secret Wars event rages on, the House of Ideas continues to tease us with glimpses of the future Marvel Universe. The latest reveal shows us what the Avengers will look like when the dust settles, and it looks to be a healthy mix of Avengers old and new. Here's what we know about them so far.

A New Leader

The leader of the new Avengers team will be none other than Iron Man. Unlike other heroes who've undergone an identity change in recent times (Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine... basically everybody), Tony Stark will still be the man behind the suit, but with one major difference: He's no longer a billionaire. That's right, instead of funding the Avengers with his deep pockets, this Avengers team will have to scrape to get by. Should be interesting.

The Established Members

Joining Iron Man in the new team are the other two members of the classic Avengers "Big Three", Captain America and Thor: But there's a catch. Instead of Steve Rogers and Odinson, Marvel is sticking with the Sam Wilson version of Captain America, who keeps his Falcon wings, along with the increasingly-popular Jane Foster incarnation of Thor. Another long-time Avenger returning to the team is Vision. The density-altering android is experiencing a cultural resurgence thanks to his appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, so his renewed importance in the comics after several years on the periphery comes as no surprise. Hopefully he manages to avoid dying for the trillionth time.

The Rookies

Along with the established heroes, this new Avengers team is going to feature three recruits who are fairly new to this whole super hero thing because, well, they're teenagers. First up is Nova. High Schooler Sam Alexander took over for the presumed-dead Richard Ryder back in 2012, and now officially joins the Avengers after sitting on an invite for a couple of years.

Next up is the New Jersey high school student with Inhuman roots, Kamala Khan, who took up the mantle of Ms. Marvel after the original, Carol Danvers, stepped into the role of Captain Marvel. Ironically, Khan writes fan fiction about the Avengers, so we'll have to see how her joining the ranks affects her work. And finally, rounding out the team, is Miles Morales. The good news keeps rolling in for Miles, whom we just learned will also be starring in a solo Spider-Man comic in the new Marvel Universe.

It's worth noting that Miles is the only character on the team who does not come from the main Marvel Universe, but rather from the now-defunct Ultimate Universe. Seeing him struggle to adapt to his new world, and teammates, will likely be a focus of the new book.

The New Villain

It's not just the Avengers hero line-up that's getting a fresh look. It's been revealed that Earth's Mightiest will be grappling with a villain the likes they've never seen before. Here's what writer Mark Waid had to say about the Avengers new foe: "As faithful NOVA readers will recognize, the main villain in our first story – Warbringer - has strong ties to Sam Alexander [a.k.a. Nova], but does Sam dare confess this to the team after the havoc Warbringer wreaks in New York City?"

This line-up has a lot going for it and definitely looks unlike any Avengers team we've seen yet, and the series will be written by Mark Waid with art by Adam Kubert and Mahmud Asrar. We don't know about you, but we can't wait to read their first adventure when it hits store shelves in October.
