Who is the Hulk? Marvel Previews Mysterious All-New 'Totally Awesome' Hulk
The entire Marvel Comics universe is rebooting after the events of Secret Wars to become the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe, and a few of our favorite superheroes will have new human alter egos entirely. The Hulk is one of the most anticipated changes, as a mystery human will take over the mantle from Bruce Banner in the new series, Totally Awesome Hulk.

Marvel wrote in a press release:

Opening quote
"Strap in, hold on, and Hulk out – because you're in for a rollercoaster ride! This Fall, Marvel proudly brings to you THE TOTALLY AWESOME HULK #1 – a brand-new ongoing series! We promise, True Believer – you've never seen a Hulk like this before! Legendary and storied Incredible Hulk scribe Greg Pak (Planet Hulk) returns to the green goliath's ongoing adventures. And he's bringing blockbuster artist Frank Cho (Mighty Avengers, Savage Wolverine) along for the ride!"
Closing quote

We have to admit, the title "Totally Awesome Hulk" sounds kind of hilariously valley girl-ish, but that won't stop us from being excited about the series itself. It looks like we're getting an entirely different personality behind the green giant, one who is "not tormented, not conflicted, just a giant green wrecking machine who loves being the Hulk." I don't know if the absence of Banner's sense of inhibition and conscience will lead to a dumbing-down of the series, but at least fans know they'll get plenty of the classic wrecking ball-esque version of the Hulk.

"For decades, Dr. Bruce Banner has buckled under the weight of his fearsome alter ego, the Incredible Hulk," said Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. "Now, someone else is going to take away Banner's burden, hoist it onto his frail shoulders like it weighs no more than a leaf, and embrace the pure fun being the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe. It's the Hulk like you've never seen him before: unleashed, unapologetic and totally awesome."

Marvel also made it clear that this will be a true reboot of the character, rather than the return of another known Hulk. "We ain't kidding – this is an all-new Hulk," said writer Greg Pak. "We're breaking new ground here – no return to established personalities of the past. But what's going on is indeed grounded in the history of the character and will delve into the central themes of the Hulk in exhilarating new ways."

Totally Awesome Hulk #1 will hit comic book stores this fall.
