Ant-Man's Peyton Reed Wants to Direct a Hank Pym-Centric Prequel
Hank Pym is a founding member of The Avengers in Marvel comics, but has been relegated to a supporting role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Ant-Man director Peyton Reed, that could change in the near future, as he is interested in directing a prequel to Ant-Man that focuses primarily on Hank Pym.

Opening quote
"Listen, if we were lucky enough to be able to do a sequel or even a prequel, I'd be way into it," Reed told Comicbook.com. "I've really fallen in love with these characters. I was always in love with the characters in the comic book world but there's a lot of story to tell with Hank Pym."
Closing quote

Ant-Man hasn't come out in theaters yet, but it's drawing surprisingly positive reactions so far, so it seems more likely that the film will be successful. And it's a Marvel film, so as long as it's not a complete disaster, it will probably be financially successful enough that it will warrant some kind of sequel in the inevitable Phase 4.

Whether it's likely that the sequel will be a Hank Pym-centric prequel is a different story. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are two huge factors Ant-Man has going for it, while a prequel would at least lose Paul Rudd, and if it were far back enough in the past, it would lose Michael Douglas as well. But on the plus side, following Hank Pym as a young man would almost certainly solve that #JanetVanCrime problem.

Ant-Man opens in theaters on July 17.
