Jurassic Park: High Heels Edition Gives All the Characters Sensible, Realistic Shoes (Even the Dinosaurs)
While Jurassic World may have exceeded expectations in many ways, its sense of gender equality left something to be desired. The main female character was smart and successful, and therefore frigid, and spent the entire film learning how to "loosen up" and be more nurturing. As Joss Whedon said, the character development in general was "70s era-style sexism" at its finest, but the worst (or at least most obvious) instance was those heels. Even when Claire was literally trying to outrun a dinosaur, she didn't take off her four-inch heels, because reasons. It should make us angry, but it's so ridiculous it's just become a joke, and this parody video is the perfect way to highlight the ridiculousness:

"You loved the endless running in high heels in Jurassic World... Now enjoy them in the entire Jurassic series!"

In this re-mastered footage for the box set, everyone gets to wear pretty princess shoes, including Jeff Goldblum, the mosquito inside the amber, and the infamous T-Rex. The minds behind Jurassic World may have intended for the heels to be a statement about stereotypical femininity being compatible with toughness and competence, but this video highlights the sheer impracticality that makes this argument dubious. We tend to think this footwear is quite literally "65 million years in the making," as in it should have gone extinct many eons ago.
