Robbie Amell Joins The X-Files as an FBI Agent
Robbie Amell is getting yet another geeky credit on his resume, as he will play an FBI agent on the X-Files revival series. He will reportedly appear in one episode, alongside Six Feet Under's Lauren Ambrose, who will play a fellow agent.

There aren't too many details available, but according to Variety, Amell's character, Agent Miller, is described as "smooth" and "smart," while Ambrose's Agent Einstein is "sharp" and "confident." The descriptions are incredibly vague, not to mention similar to each other, but it's probably more revealing that the two actors look very much like a young Mulder and Scully. It's fairly certain that they won't literally portray young versions of the classic duo, as they have different names and the episode reportedly takes place in the present day, but we can speculate that they will be the "new Mulder and Scully," figuratively speaking.

Amell has become a well-known figure in the geek community, as he was a main character on The Tomorrow People, and now plays Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Ambrose is best known for playing Claire Fisher on Six Feet Under, and has also appeared on Torchwood: Miracle Day and Robot Chicken. They will be joined by other notable guest stars Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Joel McHale (Community), and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley star and adorable X-Files superfan).

The X-Files revival will be a six-episode miniseries starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, reprising their roles as Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. It will also bring back key supporting players such as AD Skinner, The Smoking Man, John Doggett, and Monica Reyes. The series premieres on January 24, 2016 on Fox.
