Jurassic World Overtakes The Avengers to Become Third Highest-Grossing Movie Ever
As much as everyone loves Jurassic Park, Jurassic World exceeded everyone's wildest expectations, surpassing Avengers for the biggest opening of all time and then continuing to break pretty much every record ever. Now, THR reports that the reboot has officially beaten Avengers in overall box office, and has therefore become the third highest-grossing movie of all time.

The Avengers has been the third highest-grossing film since it came out in 2012, pulling in 1.52 billion at the global box office. As of today, Jurassic World has made 1.522 billion, which only places it behind James Cameron's two juggernauts: Titanic and Avatar.

Jurassic World is still showing in theaters, so there's technically still a chance that it could unseat Cameron's films, but it's highly unlikely; Titanic made $2.186 billion while Avatar made a whopping $2.788 billion, and the hype surrounding Jurassic World is already starting to die down.

So chances are, Jurassic World will remain in the third place spot, although it still has one hurdle it could still realistically jump before its theatrical run is over. Colin Trevorrow's dino blockbuster is still behind Joss Whedon's Marvel opus at the domestic box office, bringing in $614 million to The Avengers' $623 million.

So, do we think there's going to be a sequel? Is that going to be a thing?
