Tyrese Gibson Confirms He's Met with Warner Bros. About Playing Green Lantern
Green Lantern is the only member of the DCU's Justice League that hasn't been cast, and we were hoping that Warner Bros. would reveal their choice at San Diego Comic Con. They didn't, but they did confirm reports that their upcoming film would actually be about the Green Lantern Corps, and would feature multiple Green Lanterns. Hopefully, this makes it more likely that John Stewart will appear, and many fans have put Tyrese Gibson's name out into the universe as their dream casting. Gibson himself has made it abundantly clear that he is keen to take on the role, and has even begun hinting in the last few weeks that he is in negotiations:

Now, Gibson has confirmed that he is actually in talks with Warner Bros. for a role in Green Lantern Corps. The Furious 7 actor told Collider:

Opening quote
"I've already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we'll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that's not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there's a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can't. We'll just keep following up."
Closing quote

Gibson is absolutely right that we need more black superheroes, and the DCU in particular is lacking in racial diversity; Gal Godot is Middle Eastern, and Jason Momoa is part Native Hawaiian, but so far the Justice League is composed of mostly white men, with no representation of blacks, Asian-Americans, Hispanics, etc. It would be great to see John Stewart, the first black superhero to appear in DC Comics, on the big screen. He wouldn't be headlining his own movie, of course, but I suppose we should be happy that they're taking baby steps.

Warner Bros.'s Green Lantern Corps reboot comes out in 2020.
