Meet the Supporting Characters in Fox's Deadpool Movie
Deadpool comes out in theaters next year, with Ryan Reynolds starring as the titular anti-hero, and as awesome as that is (let's be honest, we all saw the leaked trailer, right?), not even the Merc with a Mouth can carry a movie all by his lonesome. But which Marvel Comics characters will join him in Fox's movie? Here's what we know so far:

Copycat

Meet the Supporting Characters in the New Deadpool Movie

Vanessa Carlysle is a couple things. She's Wade Wilson's girlfriend before he becomes Deadpool, and from the trailer, it seems she'll be fulfilling that role in the movie as well. But in the comics, she's also a blue-skinned, shape-shifting mutant assassin. We don't know yet if the film is keeping Copycat's shapeshifting abilities, but it looks like they're ditching the blue skin. Probably a good idea since it's taking place in the same universe as Fox's X-Men films, and they already feature a pretty prominent blue-skinned shapeshifter of their own.

Weasel

One of Deadpool's closest allies (and sometimes foe, like everyone in his life), Weasel doesn't have any superpowers. He's just a nerd and tech wizard who helps Deadpool with his gear, and, especially since he's being played by comedian T.J. Miller in the film, makes a ton of jokes.

Blind Al

Another person who is about as close to Deadpool as one can be, Althea is a blind older woman whom Deadpool was assigned to kill but instead chose to kidnap and keep her as some kind of pet. He torments her, but at the same time they have a type of mutual respect for one another. In case you haven't figured it out yet, Deadpool isn't exactly Captain America when it comes to morals.

Ajax

Meet the Supporting Characters in the New Deadpool Movie

Ajax looks to be the main villain in the film, and we're on board with that. He's among those who received augmented abilities via the Weapon X program, but unlike Deadpool and Wolverine, Ajax stayed on as an employee to hunt down renegade former subjects. His most-hated subject is Deadpool, and the two have killed one another multiple times in the comics. Ajax possesses superhuman strength and speed, and he also had his nerve endings removed so he doesn't feel any pain. Sounds like the makings of a classic villain to us.

Angel Dust

Meet the Supporting Characters in the New Deadpool Movie

Here's where things get a little unpredictable. The Angel Dust from the comics is a mutant who belongs to a group called the Morlocks, mutants who live underground because their powers or appearance don't allow them to comfortably live among normal humans. In her case, she possesses the ability to raise her adrenaline to gain super-strength, but doing so gives her dark scars on her face. From the trailer, we're guessing she'll be a villain in the film, since she's seen punching Wade Wilson in the face while he receives treatment at the Weapon X facility.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Meet the Supporting Characters in the New Deadpool Movie

Even more curious than Angel Dust is Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a mutant with the ability to see disasters before they happen. She doesn't last very long in the comics, as she's only seen briefly as a student of Emma Frost before she dies in a Sentinel attack on the mutant-populated island of Genosha. That's it. In the film, she appears to be a mercenary and ally of Deadpool, and we get the feeling the writers threw her in there just so they could use the name. But really, who could blame them?

Colossus

Meet the Supporting Characters in the New Deadpool Movie

Easily the most recognizable character in the film to the casual viewer (besides Deadpool), Peter Rasputin is a Russian mutant and longtime member of the X-Men who has the power to turn his flesh into organic steel. An odd pairing for Deadpool for sure, especially since he's already appeared, albeit briefly, in several X-Men movies, Colossus looks to be another member of Wade Wilson's crew in the film. Maybe this time he'll finally get the onscreen treatment he deserves.
