Lex Luthor Breaks DC's Dark Lighting Rule in New Batman v Superman Images
I love DC as much as the next person (I actually tend to be more of a DC than a Marvel person), but even I have to admit their "dark," "gritty" aesthetic is employed with varying degrees of success. So it makes me laugh that in these new Batman v Superman images from Empire, the "good guys" are both extremely dark and subdued, while Lex Luthor is surrounded by bright colors and fluorescent lighting:

The image of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor pretty much confirms that he's been typecast as Mark Zuckerberg, as everything about him screams Silicon Valley. This should be a fresh take on the classic Superman villain, and while many are dubious of this casting, I'm excited for a fast-talking, weirdly religious Social Network-type of Lex.

In this much darker photo, Henry Cavill's Superman is standing in what looks like the burned ruins of an abandoned building, possibly Wayne Manor. And below, we have Batman employing his Bat-Signal, much like he did in the trailer:

The Bat-Signal always gets me, and this picture is fairly exciting, although I can't help but think of this meme:

The official synopsis for Batman v Superman reads:

Opening quote
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
