Netflix Teases Possible Solo Series for Marvel's Punisher
After the rousing success of the first Marvel/Netflix collaboration, Daredevil, further collaborations are galloping out of the gate. In addition to the planned Defenders miniseries, Marvel/Netflix has already announced a second season of Daredevil, featuring Jon Bernthal as the antagonist in an arc the showrunner calls "Daredevil vs. Punisher." Now, Netflix has teased a possible solo series for the popular Marvel character.

Today, Netflix previewed their upcoming original series at the TCA press tour, including their Marvel collaborations. Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, when asked by Hitfix if Punisher could get his own series, said, "Yes, anything is possible."

He went on to clarify that any character from Daredevil could spin off into his or her own series. "That's the beauty of the Marvel universe," he said.

This is a vague answer, but we wouldn't be surprised if there were tentative plans for Punisher to get his own series. It's been rumored for a while now, and if there were absolutely no plans, Sarandos likely would have said so rather than get the fans' hopes up with that kind of tease. If we had to guess, there are probably plans in the works, but the series will likely be contingent on Jon Bernthal's reception in Daredevil.

Netflix also previewed their timeline for the Defenders miniseries, which are expected to come out approximately every six months. "Some will selectively have multiple seasons as they come out of the gate," said Sarandos. "So they'll probably be two launches a year."

Jessica Jones is next on the docket, with all episodes premiering on Netflix later this year. Luke Cage and Daredevil season two are both set for 2016, followed by Iron Fist and a Defenders miniseries.
