Guardians of the Galaxy Series Shorts Reveal Rocket Raccoon's Origins
The Guardians of the Galaxy animated series is fast approaching, and Marvel is releasing short videos explicating the origins of our favorite petty criminals. They've already released animated shorts for Star Lord and Groot, and now it's Rocket's turn:

The first video shows us the painful, invasive experiments conducted on Rocket while he was in the hands of the government, with a creepy, even-toned voice emphasizing the Guardians' underdog status. She says the "subject" is "undersized with below average strength, yet demonstrates courage and elevated aggression." ("Elevated aggression" sounds about right, I don't know about the courage at this point in the narrative.)

It also shows Rocket meeting his best buddy Groot for the first time, and at first it looks like he might leave him behind, which would have been very sad. But he comes through in the end, and they've already become two peas in a pod at the end of four minutes.

And just in case you missed it, here are the Groot origin shorts that came out last week:

The official synopsis for the Guardians of the Galaxy series reads:

Opening quote
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy follows the newly-formed team who finds a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It's up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe.
Closing quote

The Guardians of the Galaxy series stars Will Friedle as Star-Lord, Vanessa Marshall as Gamora, Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot, Trevor Devall as Rocket, and David Sobolov as Drax the Destroyer. The show premieres on September 26 at 9:30pm ET on Disney XD.
