Hugh Jackman Teases Victor Creed, Berserker Rage in Wolverine 3
By the time Wolverine 3 comes out in 2017, Hugh Jackman will have been playing the iconic character for seventeen years, ever since the first X-Men film in 2000. So, somewhat understandably, he is finally moving on from the role after the next sequel, and he's working as hard as anyone to ensure that his last appearance as Logan is not a disappointment. Late last month, he asked Twitter users to send him suggestions for the plot of the final Wolverine film, and got an overwhelming response from fans:

Of the thousands of responses, many answered in just three words ("Old. Man. Logan."). But many had more specific comments as well, and in a recent podcast with Sydney Confidential, Jackman hinted that several of those suggestions may have made it into the film. When asked whether he could say anything about the plot, he responded:

Opening quote
"There were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back, there was... I must admit I was quite heartened by a number of people saying please don't make it the last, but I'm really excited about this last one, and if you're a comic book fan, then the words 'berserker rage' came up a lot, so if you know Wolverine, you'll understand."

The Wolverine 3 conversation starts around the 1:00 mark:

Victor Creed aka Sabretooth is one of the most prominent enemies of Wolverine in the comics. He was played by Tyler Mane in X-Men and then by Liev Shreiber in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but it would likely be Shreiber's iteration that would return, both because he has bigger star power and because Mane's character died in that timeline. Sabretooth was a subject of the supersoldier program Weapon X that gave Wolverine his powers, and in the film series was depicted as Logan's half-brother.

Jackman only hinted at a Victor Creed appearance, but he seems fairly certain that Logan will go into a berserker rage by the end of the film. In the comics, Wolverine's berserker rages cause him to lash out with an animalistic ferocity and kill everything in sight, and also makes him more resistant to psychic interference. As a result, these rages have saved his life when he's in close combat situations or fights with telepathic mutants, although he feels conflicted about killing people. Since Wolverine 3 will serve as a send-off for the character, it would make sense that he would go out with a bang and kill a whole bunch of people.

Wolverine 3 hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
