Arrow Producer Confirms Constantine Will Resurrect Fan Favorite Character
The beleaguered Constantine won't get a second season, but he will be resurrected in one episode of the fourth season of Arrow. His appearance is fitting for Arrow's shift towards the magical, as the introduction of the Lazarus Pit means that demon hunter Constantine will fit in much better than he would have in season one. And as it turns out, he will play a pivotal role in the plot of the overall DC television universe, as he will resurrect a long-dead fan favorite character.

Possible spoilers ahead! (Click to reveal)

When The Flash EP Andrew Kreisberg said at TCA that there would be "a resurrection" in Constantine's episode of Arrow, we speculated that he may bring back Sara Lance, who died in Arrow's third season premiere and has been confirmed to appear in the spin-off Legends of Tomorrow, which begins in midseason. Now, Arrow producer Wendy Mericle has confirmed that this will, in fact, be Sara Lance's path towards becoming White Canary:

Opening quote
"It is tied to Sara Lance's resurrection," Mericle told Collider of Constantine's guest appearance. "We knew that Sara had died at the beginning of Season 3 and that she was going to be on Legends, so we had to find a way to bring her back. We were like, "How do you do that?," and he was the most obvious character to do that."

Mericle also confirmed that Diggle will get a bonafide superhero identity now that he has his own costume, which was revealed at San Diego Comic Con:

Opening quote
By necessity, he can't be Diggle out in the field. I can't tell you what the code name is, but he's gonna have a fun, cool code name. He'll start to embrace a little bit more of that dual identity conundrum that Oliver has been grappling with for three years now.

Mericle also compared the season's Big Bad, Damien Darhk (played by the truly frightening Neal McDonough), to previous villains, stating that he is the first legitimate sociopath they've ever had on the show:

Opening quote
He is definitely a super bad-ass, scary guy. We really were excited that we got Neal [McDonough]. We've had Malcolm and we've had Slade. If you start to break it down, they're the villains, but they're the heroes of their own story and you understand why they're doing what they're doing. Damien doesn't have that. Damien is just pure evil. We wanted to explore that. We've never really done a sociopath on the show, and that's what we're exploring this year. That's why we're introducing him so fast and early in the season.

And finally, Mericle discussed the arrival of Curtis Holt aka Mr. Terrific, who will be played by Echo Kellum:

Opening quote
I don't think we'll see him morph into Mr. Terrific this season, but he's somebody who brings a different tone and element, more in keeping with the lightness that we're bringing into this season. He also is one of our only other LGBT characters, and we're excited to have that on the show to explore those things, particularly through the prism of that character and with his relationship to Felicity and the team.
