Neil deGrasse Tyson is the Star of This New Viral Video for Ridley Scott's The Martian
One of the most exciting things about Ridley Scott's adaptation of The Martian is the project's serious scientific chops. We've already had NASA revealing 9 real-life technologies featured in the movie, and we know that NASA scientists consulted with Ridley Scott's team to make the movie as realistic as possible. But now the scientific street cred of The Martian has been upped another level, because 20th Century Fox has just released a new viral video for the movie, featuring none other than science superstar Neil deGrasse Tyson.

In scenes reminiscent of deGrasse Tyson's recent Cosmos series, the famed astrophysicist takes us on a journey through the solar system as he explains the the perilous Ares mission to the Red Planet.

This is just the latest in a long line of nods to the scientific community we've seen from The Martian, and long may it continue.

Here's the official synopsis for The Martian, which stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain and Jeff Daniels.

Opening quote
When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.
