EA Reveals New Star Wars Battlefront Concept Art Detailing The Battle of Jakku
In what is already a busy day for Star Wars fans, with new Star Wars: The Force Awakens teasers and new behind the scenes images from JJ Abrams movie, EA and Dice have just revealed new concept art from their upcoming release, Star Wars Battlefront.

At Star Wars Celebration back in April, we were teased that those who pre-order Battlefront would get first access to an expansion that details the Battle of Jakku. Available a week later to all those who resist the urge to pre-order, the Battle of Jakku expansion will give players a chance join the battle that caused that downed Star Destroyer from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. While we know that the Battle of Jakku took place in the immediate aftermath of the Rebels' victory at Endor, we don't quite know how everything unfolded– although we're guessing it went badly for the Empire. This concept art gives us our first look at a battle that could be as big as any we've ever seen in the Star Wars universe.

Here's what DICE concept artist Anton Grandert had to say about his work.
Opening quote
There's a David and Goliath theme to this. The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces. We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight.
Closing quote

Jakku joins a host of other iconic Star Wars battles that will be playable in Battlefront, and while none of those will be space battles, there should be enough to keep most people happy. Endor, Tatooine and Hoth are just a few of the famous environments that players can explore, and while doing so they'll be able to take control of some of the franchise's most famous vehicles, including X-Wings, TIE Fighters, the Millennium Falcon and even Boba Fett's Slave I.

Star Wars Battlefront is released in November of this year.
