New Promo for The Flash Season Two Teases Blue Flash
The Flash's second season is adding a huge roster of fellow speedsters, from Big Bad villain Zoom to alternate Flashes Wally West and Jay Garrick. But now, a relatively obscure Australian promo may have revealed yet another speedy addition to the cast: a blue Flash.

In this brief promo, a speedster who looks like Barry Allen is seen racing across Central City, but instead of his signature yellow lightning, he leaves blue lightning in his wake. It's possible that it's just a visual effect for the marketing materials, but that would be a fairly significant aspect of the show to change just for kicks.

If there really will be blue lightning in the upcoming season, then this could mean one of several things. It could mean that Barry's powers have been altered after the singularity event, and that there will be lasting repercussions affecting his biology and abilities after the season finale.

It could also mean that they're introducing a new character with similar powers, such as Cobalt Blue/Malcolm Thawne. In the comics, Malcolm was Barry's twin brother separated at birth and raised by the Thawne family. He has an abiding hatred of the Flash family, as he doesn't have any speed powers of his own, but can siphon their powers by enveloping them in a magical blue flame.

This version of the character wouldn't fit into the entire continuity of the show, as there has been no mention of Barry's brother living with the Thawne's, but some kind of blue Flash with a connection to the Thawne family would make perfect sense for this season. It seems somewhat unlikely that they will add another speedster along with Zoom, Wally West, Jay Garrick, and the recently announced Jesse Quick, but it's possible. And if the character is, in fact, Barry's twin brother, that would explain why it looks like Grant Gustin in the promo.

The Flash returns for its second season on October 6 on The CW.
