Stan Lee Hasn't Watched Fantastic Four. Here's Why
Let's face it, you're not exactly in the minority if you avoided Josh Trank's Fantastic Four movie like some form of cinematic plague. But if you're a Marvel legend and the man who actually created the characters in question, not watching a major Marvel adaptation may raise a few eyebrows. Speaking on Larry King's Hulu show this week, Stan Lee revealed that he skipped Fantastic Four this summer, but not for the reasons you might expect.

Here's what Lee said when he was asked what he thought of the movie's troubles....

Opening quote
Well, it was probably because I didn't have a cameo in it, and they didn't discuss the story with me. I haven't seen it yet, so I really can't comment.
Closing quote

Now, whenever you're taking a quote from Stan Lee, it's best to take it with a pinch of salt. The comic book icon has that wry manner of speech that means you never quite know how much to read into what he says. That being said, not asking Stan Lee, the man who created The Fantastic Four, to give his input on a Fantastic Four movie is bizarre move.

If Trank and Co. really wanted to do something different with this classic Marvel property, then that's fine, but who could possibly know Fantastic Four better than the man who created them? Surely Trank and Fox could have swallowed their pride enough to ask for the ultimate expert opinion on their movie? Sure, Stan Lee's input didn't prevent the original Fantastic Four movies from being total duds, but getting him involved certainly couldn't hurt, could it?

Hopefully Stan Lee gets a chance to watch Trank's movie soon, because if anyone can give an accurate account of where this movie went wrong, it's him.
