The Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Continues with Marvel's Star Wars: Shattered Empire
With September 4th finally here, clues about how LucasFilm plan to take us from Return of the Jedi to The Force Awakens are starting to come through thick and fast. We've already told you about all the clues in Star Wars Aftermath, but that's just one piece of the puzzle that LucasFilm has dubbed the 'Journey to the Force Awakens'. Between now and December 18th, over 20 books, comics and kids stories will bridge the 30+ year gap between the Rebel victory at Endor and the opening scenes of JJ Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

A key part of this Journey is the new Marvel comic series, Star Wars: Shattered Empire. The four part mini-series will pick up right from the celebrations on Endor, and as these new preview pages show us, despite Palpatine being toppled, it's not all Yub Nub and fireworks for the Rebellion just yet.

So, clearly the Empire isn't going down without a fight and with Star Wars Aftermath giving us clues as to how The Force Awakens' First Order was created, it may well be that Shattered Empire becomes an equally insightful read.

Star Wars: Shattered Empire is written by Greg Rucka with art by Marco Checchetto, and color by Phil Noto. You can catch issue 1 in stores from Wednesday September 9th.
