Marvel Reveals the Identity of Their Totally Awesome Hulk
Oh boy. After teasing us with a series of blacked out Hulk images, Marvel has finally revealed the identity of their all new, Totally Awesome Hulk. Since the release of the first mysterious images, comic book fans have been trying to figure out just who the Totally Awesome Hulk is. We gave it a shot, providing our best guesses earlier this year and, lo and behold, we actually got it right! The new, Totally Awesome Hulk is.....Amadeus Cho!

Opening quote
Come December, the one true Hulk will be a 19-year-old Korean-America "Boy Genius" who is going to carry the burden of being the Hulk like it weighs a feather," says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. "He's going to love every minute of it. In this new series, we are going to lean hard into the fantasy aspects of being the Hulk. It can't be all bad, can it?

Speaking to EW, Marvel's Axel Alonso revealed why it was time to move beyond Bruce Banner, and what it is that makes Amadeus Cho the perfect choice to be Marvel's next big green hero.

Opening quote
As a former Hulk editor, I just felt like…we've seen Banner's story for so long, and the burden that he carries, with the weight of the Hulk on his shoulders. Perhaps the most interesting thing is to see how someone else shoulders that burden, and immediately, Amadeus came to mind for a lot of different reasons. One of them is that physically, he's like Banner: he's the 98-pound weakling who's had everything but the physical aspect to make him seem super cool. And secondarily is that he's so different from Banner. He shares the monstrous intellect but he's so different - he's a teenage kid, who's hasn't lived much yet. When Banner inherited the burden of being the Hulk, he was an adult. And I think that it showed in the way that he responded to it. Amadeus is a plucky kid. He's got a chip on his shoulder, he's the fifth or sixth smartest guy in the world according to the official rankings, and I think he's just going to carry himself very differently with that power.

While Banner loyalists may be upset at Cho's appointment as the new Hulk, Banner's story won't be completely discarded. As part of Cho's journey to becoming the Totally Awesome Hulk, Marvel will be giving us a conclusion to Banner story. Marvel has teased that readers can expect a lot of surprises when it comes to wrapping up Banner's involvement with the Jade Giant, which only serves to make this upcoming series all the more exciting.
