New Arrow Season 4 Promo Shows Damien Darhk's Supernatural Powers
Arrow is about to diverge from the comics in a big way, as the newest promo for the upcoming season shows the DC Comics villain Damien Darhk possessing supernatural powers:

In the clip, Darhk (played by the wonderful Neal McDonough) stops one of Oliver's arrows using some form of telekinesis. In the comics, the character doesn't have any superpowers, but rather fights Arrow with his genius-level intellect. In the first couple seasons of Arrow, this grounded take on the character would have fit perfectly with the tone of the show, but with the introduction of the Lazarus Pit, the show has become more and more focused on mysticism and magic, and producers have stated that that trend will continue in season four.

In that same vein, Matt Ryan's Constantine will also be introduced onto the show, and will resurrect Sara Lance using the Lazarus Pit in order to lay the groundwork for her appearance in Legends of Tomorrow. This will be one of several pseudo-backdoor pilots for the spin-off, which will be shown in both Arrow and The Flash.

The theme of the promo is "embrace your dark side," which is both a nod to Darhk, who will serve as the Big Bad of the season, but also a reference to several characters on the show reinventing themselves. Thea has begun to embrace her identity as Speedy, while Oliver is becoming Green Arrow (as Darhk called him in the clip) and Diggle will get his own Wolverine-like costume

Arrow returns for season four on October 7 at 8pm ET on The CW.
