First Trailer for The Divergent Series: Allegiant Reveals the World Beyond the Wall
The first teaser trailer for the newly-named The Divergent Series: Allegiant has been released, and it shows Tris and Four venturing into new territory, beyond the wall that forms the boundaries of their dystopian society:

The first half of the teaser recaps the first two films, in which the world "was divided" in Divergent and then "shattered" in Insurgent. The recaps are a handy way to fill up the time, but also reminded me how much I liked Divergent in spite of myself, and that I don't remember what the hell happened in Insurgent. Seriously, I can barely remember a single plot point, aside from the amazing ending scene between Kate Winslet and Naomi Watts, and it doesn't help that the footage in the teaser consists of things that never happened. Why would you use a dream/virtual reality sequence to illustrate that the world "shattered"? That's pretty indicative of the problems with Insurgent in general.

Anyway, we do see some footage from Allegiant, and it looks- fine? It looks like more of the same, with hopefully a little more real action and a little less virtual reality. Considering that the main mythology of the second film diverged (sorry) significantly from the novels, we have no idea what's going to happen. Plus, Lionsgate insisted when they announced that the final two films will now be called Allegiant and Ascendant that "the ending is never what you expect," which may be good news for a certain character who's supposed to die at the end. But then again, the trailer ominously ends with the introduction of Jeff Daniels as the nefarious David, so the movies might be heading in a similar direction as the books.
