When Will Tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens Go On Sale? Rumors Surface that Pre-sales Start October 19th
We already know that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to be the movie event of the year...decade... and century, and we already know that it's going to make a ton of money at the box office. Another fact that's not in doubt is our collective desire to go and see the movie, probably on the opening day and probably more than once. But what we're not so sure on is exactly when we'll be able to book our tickets to ensure we are present for this piece of Hollywood history in the making.

For the original Star Wars trilogy, people formed gargantuan lines outside cineplexes around the world, simply because it was the only way to ensure you were the first one in to see the movie. Even with the prevalence of telephone booking systems in the 90's, people still lined up to be the first to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, sharing their love for the franchise as they waited somewhat ridiculous lengths of time, time which in hindsight could probably be considered mis-spent.

But this in-line camaraderie is an element of Star Wars fandom that will not exist with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, thanks in no small part to the ability to book your tickets online, weeks in advance of screenings. Presale tickets offered by the likes of Fandango and Movietickets.com can often make up substantial amounts of a movie's opening weekend box-office. But, such is the anticipation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, these presale tickets are going to be catapulted to new levels of prominence in the coming weeks.

Traditionally, presale tickets are offered anything between 2 weeks and a month before the movie's release date, but Star Wars is no normal movie franchise and you have to imagine that Disney will seek to capitalize on this incredible level of anticipation and maximize their presale window. But as of yet, there have been no clues as to just when these tickets will go on sale, and when we reached out to US vendors such as Fandango and Movietickets.com, they claimed that they were just as much in the dark as the fans are. Now though, the popular Star Wars fan-page and podcast Full of Sith claims to have learnt the exact date that Star Wars: The Force Awakens presale tickets will be made available online.

Your wallet's gotten a workout since Force Friday, but you're probably wondering "When do I get to spend money on the...

An October 19th presale date may seem early, but if normal blockbusters allow for a 1 month presale window, allowing 2 months for JJ Abrams' movie isn't unreasonable. The notion of a trailer released in time for the announcement also makes sense. The highly-anticipated new trailer is certain to get millions of views, and attaching a "book tickets now" tag to the end of it would surely result in some astounding purchase numbers for presale vendors.

While Full of Sith may essentially be a fan site, they aren't without their connections to LucasFilm. The podcast's hosts are regular contributors to the official Star Wars site, StarWars.com, which does lend a bit of credence to the statement. That being said, this is the Internet, which means one should always carry a few pinches of salt whenever they see read anything that's not been confirmed by the studio.
