New Heroes Reborn Promo Features Death of Fan Favorite Original Character
Heroes Reborn debuts in just a few days, and the newest promo for the premiere confirms the death of a fan favorite from the original series, and brings back a beloved Heroes catchphrase:

Possible spoilers ahead! (Click to reveal)

If you hadn't heard already, it was confirmed last month that Hayden Panettiere's Claire Bennet had been killed in the intervening years between the Heroes series finale, in which Claire revealed her powers to the world, and the events of Heroes Reborn, which picks up five years later. As shown in the above teaser, Claire died in the terrorist attack on Odessa, which was subsequently blamed on Evos and led to their persecution. Like 9/11, it's consistently referred to by the date on which it occurred: June 13.

Opening quote
"My daughter died on that day," Jack Coleman's Noah Bennet says in the teaser. "You don't just forget a day like that."
Closing quote

The teaser also brings back the infamous catchphrase, "Save the cheerleader, save the world," but in the saddest way possible. Now the mantra is, "we couldn't save the cheerleader, but we'll still save the world... I guess."

Claire's death will likely have a huge effect on the mythology of the show; not only was she a central and beloved character, but she was supposed to be essentially unkillable, as she had superhuman healing powers. The attack on Odessa, and Claire's death, will probably serve as the emotional thrust for the entire miniseries.

Heroes Reborn premieres on September 24 at 8pm ET on NBC.
