Director Jon Watts Reveals New Spider-Man Details
Jon Watts, the director of Marvel and Sony's upcoming Spider-Man film, is sharing some new details on what we can expect from the third incarnation of the web-slinger to swing into theaters this century. Watts finally reveals Peter Parker's exact age, while simultaneously putting to bed any rumors of us seeing yet another origin story. The director tells Empire:

Opening quote
"There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben. I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie. We're really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He's just 15 now."
Closing quote

Looks like they weren't kidding when they said this was going to be a young Spider-Man. While we're definitely excited to see how such a young Spidey is going to deal with his powers while believably roaming the halls of his high school for once, we're also somewhat curious as to how a fifteen-year-old kid is going to fit in in a universe that includes larger than life characters like Thor, the Hulk, and Iron Man. Watts doesn't seem to be too worried about that though, since he believes the studio found the right man (boy?) for the job in Tom Holland.

Opening quote
"Tom was pretty perfect. He's very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn't already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man."
Closing quote

Backflips aside, a number of details have emerged about Holland's appearance as Spidey in Captain America: Civil War, where the 19-year-old actor is reportedly going to be a much bigger part of the movie than any of us previously thought. But not a ton had been revealed about 2017's Spider-Man prior to Watts' new revelations, other than the fact that Marisa Tomei is starring alongside Holland as Aunt May. So, yeah, it sounds pretty good so far.
