John Boyega Cried When He Read the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Script
In the age of spoilers, it's truly amazing how little we know about the plot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But it's nice to keep the mystery alive, and at least we have many indicators that the film will be great from the little shown in trailers. Now, newcomer John Boyega is giving us another tantalizing nugget, and claiming that the script for The Force Awakens actually made him cry.

Opening quote
"When I read the script I cried, and I'm not really a big crier," Boyega told GQ. "I'm more like a frog-in-the-throat kind of guy, who'll try to hold it in and make sure I don't let it all out."
Closing quote

He wouldn't reveal any specific details (Disney would probably murder him), but he did let us know that Finn's story, while original and a departure in many ways, "mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo."

Opening quote
"His story is so epic. It's a story that's never been seen before, but it also mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. And he's quirky and charismatic and funny. For me, he was the best character in the script."
Closing quote

This is very encouraging, and it makes sense. Finn has vaguely come off as the heroic type in the trailers, but when we first meet him, he's a Stormtrooper, so there will definitely be an antihero element as well. Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron seems to be the Han Solo replacement for the most part, but it at least seems that Finn won't be quite as generic and earnest as Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.
