Ridley Scott Reveals the Title for His Prometheus Sequel is Alien: Paradise Lost
You can now drop Prometheus 2 from your movie vocabulary, because Ridley Scott has just revealed the official title for the Prometheus sequel, confirming his project will be called Alien: Paradise Lost.

Revealed in an interview with Hey U Guys, the title sets out a serious statement of intent for Ridley Scott and the future of his Prometheus series.

Like it or not, that's the title Scott is going with and it's actually rather significant one. After trying to distance his prequel series from the original Alien franchise, Scott now appears to have done the opposite, tying them to his original movie by name. Earlier this week, Scott had said there would be three more Prometheus movies before the two mythologies would join together, which makes this name choice a slightly odd one.

For many fans of the franchise though, this name won't come as much of a surprise. In the past, Scott had likened the Engineers of his first prequel to the Dark Angels of John Milton's Paradise Lost and has regularly stated that Milton's work was a huge influence on his own. Many might even remember that before Prometheus became Prometheus, the project was actually called Paradise.

But while using the term Paradise, which is a prominent one in the franchise, makes sense, crudely attaching Alien to the title doesn't. Is Scott unsure whether or not the Prometheus name has the strength to make it through 3 more movies? If he was confident in creating a true Prometheus mythology, he would surely have kept the Prometheus name in the title, but instead it would appear that he is looking to go back to basics and rely on the more well-regarded Alien name.
