Hugh Jackman Wants Tom Hardy to Be the Next Wolverine
Sadly, Hugh Jackman really seems to mean it this time when he says that he will hang up his claws after Wolverine 3, which will mean the end of an era for X-Men and Logan fans. But the show must go on, and we don't for a second believe that Fox will skip a beat in making more Wolverine movies. And apparently Jackman doesn't either, as he's already picked out his replacement. In an interview with MTV News, the actor named Tom Hardy as a prime candidate for a younger, rebooted Wolverine.

We wholeheartedly approve of this choice. Tom Hardy has proven his amazing acting chops over and over again, and has also become a favorite in geek culture after turns in films such as Inception and Mad Max: Fury Road. He's also made a foray into DC Comics adaptations, as he played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and was attached to play Rick Flagg in Suicide Squad until he had to drop out for scheduling conflicts.

He probably won't be cast as Wolverine, as this is just wishful thinking, but if he were, we have no doubt that he would do the role justice. And we'd much rather have him play Wolverine than James Bond, for which he is rumored to be a frontrunner. After all the publicity surrounding James Bond and diversity, they should definitely cast the equally qualified Idris Elba in the role, and Hardy should defect from DC to Marvel/Fox for Wolverine (although that wouldn't help the well-documented diversity problem in comics adaptations).

For now, it's a moot point, as we still have Jackman's final appearance in Wolverine 3 to look forward to. The actor may also make a cameo in Deadpool, although there's been no official confirmation. Wolverine 3 is scheduled to come out in theaters on March 3, 2017, while the Deadpool movie is slated to be released on February 12, 2016.
