Matt Damon Would Play Daredevil in a Christopher Nolan Movie
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have famously been friends since childhood, and were apparently both in contention to play Daredevil in the much-reviled 2003 adaptation. According to Damon, he "chickened out" on playing his childhood hero, and Affleck took on the challenge, but "ultimately [wasn't] very proud of it."

Opening quote
"For [me and Ben] it was always 'Daredevil' - that's the comic we read when we were kids," Damon told NY Daily News. "But when that one came along (in 2003) I chickened out, because I couldn't tell. I hadn't seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson's) work and I didn't know. So I just said, 'No.' Ben [Affleck] was like, 'I gotta do it.'

And the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don't think Ben was ultimately very proud of it."

Unfortunately, Damon doesn't see himself playing a superhero anytime soon, as he is already getting his action hero fill with the Bourne franchise, and if anything, would be more interested in directing a superhero movie. But, he conceded that there would be one specific circumstance under which he would play Daredevil:

Opening quote
"If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, 'I want to do Daredevil,' I would be in," Damon said.

There isn't too much demand for a new Daredevil right now, as Charlie Cox has acquitted himself well in the role and the Marvel/Netflix series has generally been well-received. And the Marvel TV shows are a part of the cinematic universe, so presumably Cox would play the character in any MCU films. Not to mention that Christopher Nolan has made his mark in the superhero world making dark, gritty DC films, so it's hard to imagine him defecting to Marvel. But still, Matt Damon (and the rest of us) can dream.
