Star Wars Superfan Creates Amazing DIY Flamethrower Lightsaber
It's unclear whether we'll ever actually have a real-life lightsaber, a laser that has a finite length and can be used as a sword. But a Star Wars superfan has just created a DIY homemade lightsaber that is essentially a mini-flamethrower, and while it's not a laser, so it may not function in quite the same way, it looks really, really cool:

In this video, YouTuber Sufficiently Advanced (the same genius who built a Mjolnir that only he can lift) demonstrates the Force of his homemade lightsaber, and details the parts you need to put one together yourself. The flame itself is gas-propelled, where the metal enclosure (which looks very much like the handle of a Star Wars lightsaber), and a button on the saber ignites the gas fuel and plays a lightsaber sound effect. It comes out as a thin blue stream of fire that looks a lot like a lightsaber if not for the flickering (although the flickering is cool on its own), but he demonstrates that he can also make it look like a green-bladed lightsaber by applying some Boric acid.

Unfortunately, since the maker was intent on getting the lightsaber done before The Force Awakens came out tomorrow, so he didn't have time to make the ignition run hot enough to swing the lightsaber without the fire going out. But in spite of this limitation, he's still able to kill a few Stormtroopers that are hilariously drawn on white balloons. And stick around until the end of the video to see what every Star Wars fan wants to see: Death to Jar Jar!
