New App Called TheWave Let’s DJs Work in Virtual Reality
As virtual reality starts to find its footing in the modern world, more and more everyday tasks, hobbies, and other activities seem to be finding their way to the virtual world. Now, deejaying seems to have found its way there, too.

A new app called TheWave allows users to mix music in virtual reality, ultimately allowing the user to do just about anything related to deejaying that they'd be able to do otherwise (and then some).

As can be seen from the video, TheWave introduces a new, visual aspect to deejaying as well. Users can add psychedelic effects to their mix, so when others view and listen to their song, they're able to be immersed in a totally spectacular audio-visual experience.

The app can apparently be used just by listeners as well, who can "jump from virtual venue to virtual venue to find a DJ they like." So not only will this app allow DJs a new way to do their job, but apparently it's also somewhat like a virtual concert, giving listeners and viewers a totally new virtual experience.

It's funny to think that thirty years ago, something like this would have likely been thought of as pure science-fiction. As more and more activities like this make their way to the world of virtual reality, it simply serves as another example that much of the science-fiction the world appreciates today could very well be the science fact of tomorrow.

TheWave will be available for beta on the HTC Vive sometime later this year.
