Become an X-Man with This Cyclops-Inspired Flamethrower Mask
In the X-Men universe, Cyclops has the ability to emit high-energy beams from his eyes that destroy anything in their path. Now, you can emulate his power without the benefit of the X-gene, as a tech-savvy fan has built a (slightly terrifying) flamethrower visor:

The invention comes from Youtuber Sufficiently Advanced (also responsible for that awesome real-life Mjolnir), who briefly explains the process in the below video. It's a relatively simple invention, consisting of two flamethrowers attached to a welder's mask. He uses DIY materials like the inside of a nerf water pistol to squirt fuel (mostly methanol and acetone) past two pilot lights, which then ignite and set the streams of fluid on fire.

Granted, this is fire rather than directed energy, so it's not perfectly analogous to Cyclops' powers, but it's difficult to nitpick when something looks this cool. Needless to say, this wouldn't be safe for most of us to try at home, but kudos to this guy for getting his own DIY superpowers.
