BBC Wants Planet Earth III Within the Next Decade
The heads of BBC are already getting excited about a third series of Planet Earth- and the deadline is sometime before the amazing Sir David Attenborough celebrates his 100th birthday.

Though the broadcaster and naturalist has another decade yet before he hits his centennial, the last two Planet Earths were such roaring success that Planet Earth III is being fast-tracked. Producer Mike Gunton admitted that the BBC would be crazy to pass on the idea, but relented that it might take some time to put together a whole series.

Opening quote
"We'd also be crazy to say it would be here in three years, or even five years time," he said, "We love working with Sir David and I think he loves working with us, and we want that to last as long as possible...When he decides he doesn't want to do any more, we will have to rethink how we make these programs."
Closing quote

And as to the fate of the series when Sir David's soothing voice finally leaves us - that remains to be seen. But in Gunton's mind, there would be no Planet Earth without Attenborough: "You can't replace him - it's pointless trying."
