This Self-Driving Volkswagen Concept Car Has No Steering Wheel
Volkswagen is throwing their hat into the self-driving car arena with the introduction of their new concept van, Sedric:

Sedric is still just a concept, but Volkswagen is so excited with the initial idea that they have already begun talking about future generations of their idea in a press release:

Opening quote
"Sedric is the pioneer, the ideas platform for autonomous driving in the Volkswagen Group. And it is the "Father" of numerous concepts for a new form of individual mobility. Soon Sedric will also get "children" and "grandchildren" with the Group's various brands."
Closing quote

Fully autonomous to the point that it has no steering wheel and able to be summoned with the push of a button,Volkswagen points out that one of the biggest selling points for the concept is that it can help the visually impaired get around. As such, the button that summons Sedric will vibrate and change color when the van approaches to allow the user to know when their ride is ready if they can't see clearly enough to usually drive.

For all the excitement Volkswagen is hoping to generate, one thing they may want to redesign a bit is the overall outer look of the car which is being compared to, among other things, an angry toaster.
