Virgin Galactic Nails a New Maneuver Essential to Spaceflight

Virgin Galactic has encountered the one thing it (probably) never expected: another incredibly rich visionary CEO with designs on making space travel available to everyone. Elon Musk's SpaceX has been launching spy satellites and announcing plans to colonize Mars, but Virgin Galactic has one advantage: a working spacecraft and delivery system. Now, Galactic has mastered the one maneuver that's essential to bringing passengers back to Earth. Watch the video below to check it out,

We sat in on Virgin Galactic's panel at SVCC this past April, and it all boiled down to two things: commercial spaceflight is still expensive, but once we get there, it will change the way we look at the world.

Elon Musk has already shown that simply getting serious about interplanetary colonization changes the way we approach the human race and our problems: for once, it's not about how the United States or China or Russia is going to get somewhere or advance their nation's interests, it's about humanity planning for its future as a species. When people make fun of the utopian view Star Trek had for Earth, it's because it's difficult to imagine humans uniting harmoniously under anything. But the more we push toward spaceflight, the closer we may get to that kind of perspective.

Hopefully.
