SETI And PayPal Unite To Create PayPal Galactic

Space is soon going to be a very busy place and it looks like PayPal and SETI are recognizing this fact by taking steps to create the first ever space bank.  PayPal Galactic aims to get key people thinking about what will happen when space tourism really takes off. Money is what drives almost everything we do on our planet, so we shouldn't be naive and think the same won't be true out in space.

Pretty soon, commercial trips into space will be common place...and that's just the start. Space hotels and even colonies on Mars have been planned and who knows what else will follow. So this really is a clever bit of work from the online payments giant, thinking years and thousands of miles ahead to corner the space banking market.

SETI's involvement will help to get the ever increasing number of space tourism operations involved in thinking about these issues, which according to PayPal Galactic include: Customer service, fraud and risk management and ultimately what a cash free space banking society would look like.

I'm pretty sure the likes of Chris Cassidy et al who currently reside on the ISS would settle for just being able to pay their bills at work.

Me personally? I just want the currency to be called something like Galactic Credits.
