Send A Message To An Alien Intelligence With METI

What would you say if you could speak to an intelligent alien lifeform? Would yours be a message of friendly greetings, would you warn them to stay away from humans because we are BAD NEWS, or would you simply send an 'Instagrammed' shot of the #dinner you just like, totally made? Well now, thanks to a program called Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence (METI) you could have your message shot into space for those elusive E.Ts to pick up.

 

The METI project is part of the 2013 Toronto Science Festival and it invites members of the public to submit thought-provoking and intelligent messages, two of which will be picked for transmission into space. The messages can be in the form of a 500 character text or even a video, so while photos of your culinary greatness may not get picked, there's still plenty of room for creativity here.
