Watch Onboard As China's Chang'e 3 Lands On The Moon

Over the weekend, China joined an exclusive club of just 3 countries who have successfully landed on the moon. China's Chang'e 3 vessel, which was carrying the Jade Rabbit lunar rover, made a soft touch down on Saturday night and thanks to the wonders of technology (and YouTube), you can relive that moment in 6 glorious and suspenseful minutes.

The footage opens with the Moon's curving horizon as the backdrop for Chang'e 3's initial angled approach and ends in brilliant abruptness as the craft's boosters cut out, letting gravity take it down for the last 13 feet of its journey. This is a rare chance to witness a lander's eye view of such a mission and by the time the video is finished, you'll find yourself asking "Why did we stop visiting this place?!"

China's Jade Rabbit will cruise the surface of the moon taking taking readings on Moon topography while hunting down potential subjects for future resource mining missions.
