Mars Curiosity Rover Snaps Earth And The Moon In Same Image

Well this is very humbling. Bringing back memories of Carl Sagan's famous Pale Blue Dot speech, NASA's Curiosity Rover has just snapped a photo with Earth and the Moon a pair of distant dots. This is the first time Curiosity has seen Earth from its new home on Mars and while the image isn't packed with detail, it is incredibly powerful. The image is even more powerful when you consider the distances involved in its construction. At the time the photo was taken, Mars was approximately 99 million miles away, yes, 99 MILLION miles away.

We could wheel out that line about every human living or dead being contained within the frame of this photo, but really there is no need. This image has it all....Literally!
