Watch: Video Essay of Earth as Seen from the ISS

Did you go see Interstellar for some amazing space imagery and get annoyed with all the sappy human drama like we did? If so, then this gorgeous video made from footage of Earth as seen from the ISS is a good antidote:

Astronaut - A journey to space from Guillaume JUIN on Vimeo.

Made by Guillaume Juin, the video essay combines footage from several different expeditions from 2011-2014 (including some newer footage that has never been used in other edits) and reconstructs one amazing voyage around the world. According to Juin, he changed the coloring and visuals of the footage as little as possible, and the results are beautiful. Our planet alternately looks like it's frozen and on fire (the cities, in particular, look like little burning embers), and it is often covered with what looks like the never disappointing aurora borealis.
