NASA recently uploaded all of their historic sounds to their Soundcloud, and it's a goldmine for everything from the first Apollo mission launch to the recorded sounds of interstellar space. Here are our picks for the most awe-inspiring sounds on NASA's playlist:

Sputnik Beeps

 

 

The "beep heard round the world" confirmed that Sputnik, the first ever artificial Earth satellite, had successfully deployed to space.

 

Interstellar Plasma Sounds from Voyager

 

 

Listen to the eerie recordings from NASA's Voyager 1, which was the first artificial object to reach the interstellar medium in August 2012. It will be studying the plasma until 2025.

Ill-fated Columbia celebrates first mission

 

 

The Columbia Space Shuttle was the first spacecraft to successfully complete a flight in NASA's Space Shuttle program in April 1981. It completed 27 missions before tragically disintegrating on re-entry at the end of its 28th mission in 2003.
