NASA Releases Dazzling Space Images in Honor of International Year of Light

2015 was recently named the International Year of Light by the United Nations, and in honor of this distinction, NASA's Chandra X-Ray Observatory has released beautiful composite images that celebrate the use of light imaging to capture deep space phenomena.

Space imagery is captured differently depending on the wavelengths of light observed, so Chandra has released images that show the process of combining photographs of different wavelengths of light emitted from celestial objects in order to create of more complete picture. The final composites combine photos from multiple telescopes, each capturing X-Ray, radio, optical, UV, or infrared light.
