Robot Assistant with 'Personality' Tells You What to Wear to Work

I suppose we'd rather have artificial intelligence that behaves like Samantha in Her than like the Terminators, but this is still a little unsettling. The new robotic digital assistant from Cubic Robotics connects to all of your personal technology in order to develop a weirdly intimate relationship with you, to the point that it seems to have its own personality:

From this video, Cubic's ability to make connections seems to be incredibly advanced, between telling its person that he needs to wear a tie to work because he has a meeting that day to its ability to change the house's temperature in response to "we're staying in tonight." But even weirder is its apparent ability to make jokes and develop a rapport with its human; the "Is that too dramatic?" "Maybe a little, but that's you" exchange probably demonstrated the most eerily human-like grasp of banter and humor.

Of course, this is a promotional video, so who knows if the robot is actually this nuanced in its behavior towards its human. But then again, this video specially made for Catherine Clifford of Entrepreneur legitimately shows the robot in action and it does seem to show some measure of personality, or at least, ability to mimic the concept of personality:

Cubic isn't exactly Samantha, so we can't see anyone falling in love with it just yet, but it still might herald in a new age of us having extremely co-dependent relationships with artificial intelligence.
