Rosario Dawson to Play Batgirl in Lego Batman
Rosario Dawson will be playing both sides of the Marvel vs DC rivalry; in addition to playing the Marvel superhero Night Nurse, Dawson has just been cast in Lego Batman as beloved DC superhero Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl.

Barbara Gordon is Commissioner Gordon's daughter, a PhD in library science (for some reason) who ultimately begins to fight crime under the moniker Batgirl. In the comics, she eventually becomes a hacker takes on the mantle of Oracle after the Joker famously crippled her in The Killing Joke, but since this is a kid's movie, they'll likely be staying away from that whole mess.

The spin-off to the Lego Movie is getting increasingly star-studded, as Will Arnett will reprise his voice role as Batman, Michael Cera will voice Robin, and Zach Galifinakis will play the Joker. Lego Movie animation co-director Chris McKay is set to direct, while Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith will pen the script. The Lego Movie helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will also co-produce.

Dawson, a self-proclaimed comic book fan, is no stranger to comics adaptations. In addition to playing Claire Temple in Marvel's Daredevil and the upcoming Luke Cage, she also portrayed Gail in Sin City and its sequel, A Dame to Kill For. She has also played DC Comics characters in animated films prior to this; she voiced Artemis in Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman in Justice League: Throne to Atlantis.

The Lego Batman movie is set to come out sometime in 2017.
